Kevin Escoffier
Role: Skipper
Born on 04 April 1980
Lives in Larmor-Plage
His gesture for the environment: driving an electric car and sorting his waste.
A highly experienced offshore sailor and technology buff, Kevin Escoffier managed Team Banque Populaire’s design office for nearly twelve years and has a Jules Verne Trophy and two Volvo Ocean Race campaigns to his credit, one of the latter culminating in victory with Dongfeng Race Team in 2017-18.
A native of Saint Malo, in 2019 he was chosen by PRB to take the helm of an IMOCA with which he would set sail on the Vendée Globe on 8 November 2020. However, on day 22 of the race, whilst lying in 3rd place, Kevin’s monohull broke in two. He promptly triggered his distress beacon some 600 miles to the south-west of the Cape of Good Hope. He was rescued some 12 hours later by Jean Le Cam. Following his retirement from the race, Kevin was keen to get straight back in the saddle by launching the construction of a new 60-footer, a Verdier design, launched last May.
The skipper will compete on this boat in the Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe, the main event in this 2022 season. In January 2023, he will go on to take the start of The Ocean Race, a crewed round the world race with stopovers. These races will be an opportunity to promote the powerful message of the GO CIRCULAR campaign, which aims to share Holcim and PRB’s actions to champion sustainable development.
