Nicolas Lunven breaks the 24h solo monohull distance record

Nicolas Lunven, French skipper of Team Holcim-PRB, is off to an incredible start to his first Vendée Globe. Between the second and third days of the round-the-world solo race he has set a new 24-hour distance record. Lunven chose a more westerly route than the rest of the fleet and benefited from more wind and a more direct course.

He has just covered 546.60 nautical miles* in 24 hours, or 1,012.30 km, once again confirming the exceptional potential of Team Holcim-PRB. The boat already holds the crewed 24-hour distance record, covering 640.48 miles on the 5th leg of The Ocean Race in 2023, with an average speed of 26.68 knots. Lunven surpasses the record set by Thomas Ruyant during last winter’s Retour à la Base event (540 miles).

As the Vendée Globe has only just begun, the record could be beaten again on this course.
