Team Holcim-PRB Takes Silver in the Second Leg of The Ocean Race!
On Saturday morning August 24, Team Holcim-PRB crossed the finish line of the second leg of The Ocean Race in Cartagena in second place, an inspiring comeback after being forced to retire from Leg 1.
From the moment the starting signal was given in Portsmouth, the Holcim-PRB crew threw themselves into racing mode, battling hard in the first part of the fleet. Their relentless determination paid off. After arriving third at the pit stop in Matosinhos (Portugal), the team built momentum in the second half of the leg. In a constant duel with leaders Biotherm and Paprec-Arkéa, Team Holcim-PRB secured a well-deserved second place in this stage.

It’s fantastic to be here in second place. We couldn’t have hoped for better. The team has worked so hard to get us here. We had varied conditions and close racing against our rivals. Every transition offered new opportunities. It was very challenging because the wind we got was very different from the forecasts. The spirit on board is great, there’s real teamwork.
In addition, an International Jury, appointed by World Sailing, on Sunday afternoon ruled in favor of Team Holcim-PRB, after a collision at The Ocean Race Europe start in Kiel, Germany on August 10 that forced them to retire from the first leg. The jury awarded team Holcim-PRB redress for leg 1 equal to the average points the team will score in legs 2 to 5.

We’re pleased with the Jury decision, which will allow us to score points for leg 1 that fairly reflect the performance of the team over the course of the full race. After finishing second in Cartagena, we are proud to be fully back in race mode and remain as determined as ever to show that every setback is a chance for a comeback!
