Update: Holcim-PRB Repairs Hull Damage

Team Holcim-PRB has successfully closed the hole in the carbon hull of their IMOCA yacht. A mold was produced to create a new carbon fiber section. This piece was precisely fitted to the hull, with the molding and installation process completed yesterday evening. With this step, a major part of the damage has been addressed. While the work is not yet finished, this marks significant progress, and the boat is beginning to take shape again.

In parallel with the work that will continue this morning on the hull, part of the Holcim-PRB team will begin repairing the damages on the port-side rigging caused by the collision. In particular, the outrigger stay (D0) is scheduled to be replaced. A rigging expert is arriving on site to assist the team with these delicate operations and to certify the reliability of the repairs.

For this repair, we have been working closely with the boat’s architects, including Guillaume Verdier, Hervé Penfornis and the experts at Knierim Yachtbau shipyard. We are deeply grateful to them, and our own team of technicians for their focus, expertise, and problem-solving mindset, ensuring that the repairs are carried out both safely and efficiently. This pre-molded solution was chosen for the strength, resilience, and reliability it offers. The repairs will be finalised over the next few days. The team remains cautiously optimistic about returning to the water in the coming days.
