Europe’s largest urban regeneration project, The Ellinikon is also a milestone of sustainability: the project is set to increase the amount of green space in the Athens metropolitan area by 44% and it is being built sustainably with Holcim’s low-carbon concrete ECOPact, ultra high performance concrete DYNAMax and permeable concrete Hydromedia.

Science Update: Circular Explorer

Manilla Bay, Philippines

The Circular Explorer is a 100% solar-powered recycling catamaran, designed to recover marine plastic waste in the world’s oceans and rivers. It is currently operating in Manila Bay in the Philippines, where it collects waste, educates local communities and advances marine science.

Grand Egyptian Museum

Cairo, Egypt

At 500,000 m² the Grand Egyptian Museum, is the world’s largest archeological museum. It is also Africa’s first building to receive IFC EDGE Advanced Green Building Certification. Holcim provided a range of sustainable building solutions to help realize this monumental vision.

The Ocean Race

As team Holcim-PRB races around the world, we collect water and air samples, from edges of the world where no-one goes. In collaboration with the Ocean Race, the valuable data is captured and shared with the scientific community in order to pursue our shared mission: To do everything we can to protect our oceans.

Kidston Hydropower Project

Queensland, Australia

Kidston Pumped Hydro Energy Project, which will generate enough energy to power nearby towns with a combined population of 400,000 for eight hours each and every day, is taking shape on the site of a decommissioned gold mine near Townsville, Australia. It is also the world’s first pumped hydro power project built in the most circular way possible – with 100% recycled aggregates in all concrete supplied by Holcim.

The Cosmopolitan Skyline tower illustrates how we can build better with less. This Tijuana high-rise was built with DYNAMax, Holcim’s ultimate performance concrete, which uses smart design to unlock more usable space and make the structure more resilient.

Populus Hotel

Denver, USA

Populus is setting new standards for sustainable travel by becoming the first carbon-positive hotel project in the USA. An innovative ECOPact low-carbon concrete mix brought down overall construction emissions by almost one quarter during the construction phase.
